At CIS, the aim is provide a course that embraces both the social and ethical aspects of the IB course along with an exposure to a broad range of the latest technologies. During the course students complete;

Tests: One test after each chapter in text 'Tomorrow's Technology and You'. Questions will be multiple choice and short answer.
Digital Notebook (on Microsoft Word): Points are gained through having homework complete, on time and neatly presented.
Study Problems of the type that can be expected on the IB exam will be assigned as practice questions as part of the review for the IB exam. All students will be graded as they are also good practice questions for the course exam.
Project: Each person must choose a problem and produce:
A product developed by integrating IT tools.
A written report (2000-2500 words) discussing the development, implementation and testing of the product.
A daily log book or digital journal (separate from the digital notebook described above) containing all rough work developing the project. Log book will be collected weekly and marked for detail and progress.
Attendance/Participation : Full points can be earned for coming to class on time every day, actively participating and displaying a positive attitude towards learning and activities in class

ITGS Triangle

Even though the topics in Strand 1, Strand 2, and Strand 3 may appear to be isolated topics as presented.

Each resources needs to be viewed through the "lens" of the ITGS Triangle:

the specific scenario (Strand 2)
the social/ethical impacts/issues (Strand 1) and how are stakeholders affected?
the IT systems are involved in the scenario (Strand 3)?

HL Assessments

There will be a total of 3 assessments for the class. One Internal and 2 External Assessments as follows:

Internal Assessment - Program Dossier - 35% of grade

One in-depth project containing a single problem that enables the student to demonstrate mastery of the required aspects (35 marks)

External Assessments - 65% of grade

Paper 1 - Several compulsory short-answer questions (40 marks), Six compulsory structured questions(60 marks)
Paper 2 - Four compulsory questions:Three compulsory extended-response questions including the construction of an algorithm (60 marks), One compulsory structured question based on the case study(40 marks)

SL Assessments
