The purpose of these are to help expose you to as many different technology related issues as possible throughout the year. Do not underestimate the importance of these. The exams at the end of the year are going to be focusing more and more on technology and current issues related to IT.

For the first part of the year the postings can be about any issue relating to IT, later in the year I will assign specific areas of Section 2.

Topic examples are things like:

• Wireless networks
• databases being corrupted
• new technologies (that use computers)
• anything from Section 2 of the syllabus

Some things that are NOT good topics:

• The latest cell phone (unless it has some new technology - not just a cool new look)
• A new dating service (unless it has some new technology)
• New video games

There is a specific format your postings must follow. Please follow the directions:

1. Find a topic. Some good places to look are CNN's Tech page, Wired.com or BBC's Tech page...look around, those are only the tip of the iceberg.
2. Read the article.
3. Sign into the forum
4. Copy the link to your article into the post.
5. Write a brief (three to five sentences) summary of the article.
6. Below the summary make the connections to the syllabus that apply.

This will look like this:*

• Section 1 - Reliability, Authenticity and People and Machines
• Section 2 - Software Fundamentals
• Section 3 - Business and Employment and Education

* you only need to do one connection for each Section
